So You Think You Can Write? : Why Geeks Should Write

Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful week! So, let me start by introducing myself! I am a first year Computer Science student at the University of Toronto and this is my first time writing a blog. You may wonder, then, why a Computer Science student or geek should write? Well, to be honest with you, I am hoping to find the reasons myself by the end of my blogging adventures. However, I hope I find this blog as a means to channel my inner thoughts and ideas. It is so easy to get caught up in the crazy frenzy of university life and the endless cycle of assignments and exams, that we forget to think. I mean seriously, when was the last time anyone of us took a stroll in the wilderness to think, like those characters in those Shakespeare plays? Probably never because you would not want to risk being eaten by a bear, but the point I am trying to bring forward is that, modern life may make it very difficult to really tap into our inner selves and to reflect. Another reason, I think that geeks should write is because, communication is such a vital skill that is honed only by practice and no matter what field you work in, this skill is very important. Finally, I think that geeks should write to keep track of their progress, be it while completing a huge project or while learning a new language so that when they look back at their reflections, they understand what areas they had problems in and how they overcame those problems and hopefully, let the past experiences and successes inspire them to persevere.
